NOMAD. A collection of one-of-a-kind, exclusively handmade solid perfume amulets. Produced in Southern California, NOMAD is a series of capsule collections presenting one-of-a-kind solid perfume amulets. The first capsule is the fruit of a creative alliance between Littlefeather Organics’ Emmelie Brunetti and L.A. rocker-turned-couturière-to-the-rock-world Corey Parks. Seeking to offer unique packaging for Brunetti’s signature amber & precious woods scent, an unexpected meeting with Parks, in Laurel Canyon, flourished into an intriguing new collaboration. The solid perfume, brewed by Brunetti, is poured into vintage silver Navajo pill boxes, which can be worn around the neck or as a keychain, comfortably packed inside a medicine bag meticulously handcrafted by Parks, from her Lookout Mountain home-atelier. The result is an exclusive amulet inspired by Native American shamanism, white magick and 60’s & 70’s rock’n'roll and biker culture. Here is a very special NOMAD piece that I created for our good friend Ian Astbury, who has been a tremendous inspiration to the creative process behind Hopi Botanicals, always offering important tidbits of information stemming from his extensive knowledge and genuine love for all things Native American… and Magickal. This particular piece evokes the true spirit of a Shaman medicine bag, with glass and wooden beaded fringe. One single silver bead was also added to a strand for good luck and protection. The solid perfume, poured into a vintage Navajo pill box, is a unique custom blend of Amber with notes of Vetiver, Indian Ginger, Amyris & Vanuatu Sandalwood. For the past few months, Ian has been in the studio with the undeniable wizard of Desert Rock, Chris Goss, recording the upcoming Cult album, to be released in 2010… and which we are impatiently waiting to feast our ears upon.

Sawtooth Goldenbush – Hazardia squarrosa is a species of shrub in the daisy family known by the common name Sawtooth Goldenbush. It is native to California and Baja California, where it grows in coastal and inland scrub and chaparral habitats. This is a shrub of variable size, from low and clumpy to sprawling over two meters tall. It is covered in thick, sharply toothed leaves a few centimeters long and is generally not very hairy or woolly. It bears discoid flower heads covered in greenish, pointed phyllaries and opening into an array of long yellow to slightly reddish disc florets and no ray florets. The Diegueño use a decoction of the plant as an antirheumatic for bathing the aches and pains of the body.
